Measurements we do
We typically monitor 80 – 100 connections on a truck, 24/7.
These are some of the parameters we measure. However, each machine has a custom monitoring solution.
- Vibration monitoring
- Acoustic Emission
- Temperature
- Speed
- IAS
- Ultrasonic
- Current
- Humidity
- Oil Condition
- Baseline: Location - Speed - Direction -
- Baseline: Altitude Vibration - Impacts - Pitch & Roll
- Ambient Temperature

Our Canary warns before the machine breaks-down
Miners once used canaries to detect toxic gases like carbon monoxide before it reached them — an excellent visual and audible early warning system. When the bird stops singing, you better leave soon.
Highly sensitive Motornostix Canary® data loggers work the same way for machines, providing early warning for critical problems – to optimise machines and keep people safe.
What’s building up inside your machines?
Perhaps a nose cone bearing is running low on grease
Perhaps an arcing risk is building up on a slip-ring
Perhaps a hydraulic pump coupling is working loose.
What starts as lack of lubrication, can cascade into costly repairs.
We don't want a problem to build until it costs you a shift, or worse.
Condition based maintenance of critical equipment on mines
We monitor the condition of key components using our proprietary Canary sensors, software and machine-to-cloud data management.
Expert analysis and reports provide recommendations for precision maintenance you can act on. Before stuff breaks and the phone rings.
Before it Breaks
Request a site assessment and we can look at exactly what we'd monitor and what it would tell you.
We don’t want you to dig through piles of data
Our experts assess the data and provide you with recommendations for preventative action.
And then we track it until the case is closed.
Failure Modes we detect
Our highly sensitive Canary data loggers pick up deviations long before others do. (Which is why we design and manufacture our own sensors.)

CASE STUDY
The Nose Cone Bearing – Acoustic Emission Levels High
The Situation
A new haul truck was being operated as usual on a mine.
Fault Detection
Nose Cone Bearing Acoustic Emission levels had increased steadily over 3 days, pointing to a lubrication-related issue. The trend was tracked and escalated to a high-urgency Machine Health Incident calling for inspection within 24 hours.
Problem Averted
Inspection found inadequate bearing lubrication. The bearing was greased and the lubrication system adjusted, catching the fault before it could progress toward failure. This saved a costly repair.
