Winders are critical for mining operations. Motornostix sensors are permanently fixed to to the winder motor, bearings and drive train in order to measure vibration, acoustic emission (AE), temperature, current and rpm variations. The selected combination of measurements provide a well suited solution for condition monitoring of these slow rotating machines.
Typical measurement locations are on the Motor Drive End and Non Drive End, Gearbox (where present) Input Drive End and Non Drive End, Gearbox Output and Drum Drive End and Non Drive End as well as winder rpm speed.
Typical failure modes that can be detected on winder installations include:

- Coupling imbalance
- Motor, gearbox or bearing loose foot
